Seminar in English: How can Germany and Sweden become leaders in the digital economy?

The digital economy is developing rapidly and Europe is falling behind USA, China and others. In this German Swedish Tech Forum seminar we will discuss how Sweden and Germany can make use of their innovation partnership to create conditions for becoming leaders in the digital age and at the same time ensure that European values ​​and social norms are protected. How can we e.g. contribute to more innovation and new solutions for our societal challenges by increasing access to data from the public and business sector? What cooperation opportunities exist when utilizing Open Data in sustainable value chains, healthcare, energy efficiency and mobility? Our panel will discuss the topic from German and Swedish perspectives and provide examples of innovations and of what can be gained in a future with more accessible data.

Peter Parycek is one of the leading figures in the open government movement in the German-speaking world. As a specialist in internet law, he is Head of the Competence Center Public IT at Fraunhofer FOKUS, which aims to bring impetus for digitalization into the public sphere. In addition, Peter Parycek is a member of the Digital Council of the German Government. In this role, he advises the government especially on digitalization of public spaces. He is also heading the Department for E-Governance and Administration at the Danube University Krems (Austria).
 

Anna Eriksson is Director General at the Swedish Agency for Digital Government, DIGG. The role of the agency is to coordinate and support the digitization of public administration. She is a former Development Director at Lantmäteriet, the Swedish mapping, cadastral and land registration authority, with responsibility for strategic business development and IT. Anna Eriksson also has long experience from the private business community.
 

Nils Herzberg is Global Head of Strategic Partnerships and Digital Supply Chain at SAP. He is a driving force of the digital transformation, AI and Internet of things and initiated Open Industry 4.0 Alliance in order to boost innovation with open data. Also, SAP is co-founder of the European Big Data Value Association.

 

Johan Svenningsson serves as CEO and Country Chairman of Uniper Sweden. He also holds the positions of Deputy Chairman of the Swedish Nuclear Fuel and Waste Management Company (SKB) and Governor in the World Association of Nuclear Operators (WANO). Previously, Svenningsson was deputy CEO at Swedish Technical Research Institute and held different management positions within Westinghouse and ABB Nuclear and Pharmadule Emtunga.
 

Nicklas Berild Lundblad is VP Public Policy Planning at Google and adjunct professor of innovation at KTH Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm. He is known as an opinion leader for IT law and AI. Lundblad has been a member of several expert groups for both the Swedish government and the European Commission on IT issues. Until recently he was a member of the Swedish government's digitization council.

 

Teres Lindberg is a member of the Committee of Transport and Communications. She is a social democratic politician and a member of parliament since 2011. Between 2002 - 2006 she was the mayor of Stockholm.

This seminar takes place within the German Swedish Tech Forum, the innovation platform initiated and run by the German-Swedish Chamber of Commerce (AHK Schweden) and the Royal Swedish Academy of Engineering Sciences (IVA) and which was launched by Chancellor Angela Merkel and Prime Minister Stefan Löfven in January 2017.
