Seminar (hybrid): How can we stay competitive while transforming the industry towards net zero?
Sweden's and Europe's business community and its ecosystems are facing major challenges: at the same time as the actors need to act smartly and quickly to meet the ambitious sustainability and climate goals, they are also in an accelerating transition process regarding circularity, digitalisation, etc. In this interaction, the EU has developed in its industrial policy so-called transition paths for different sectors, "Transition Pathways".
These are action plans and roadmaps for the major restructuring that European industry needs to undergo in order to achieve the ambitious goals of climate neutrality, circularity and digitalisation. For the chemical industry, there is an additional dimension as the Commission's chemicals strategy in parallel highlights the importance of safe and sustainable chemicals.
Increased collaboration is required to achieve these ambitious goals, while at the same time jeopardising the well-being and continued competitiveness of Sweden's business community. Therefore, together with the chemical group BASF, we invite decision-makers from business and innovation ecosystems, policy and administration, and research and development to a seminar focusing on the EU's Transition Pathways for the chemical industry.
The focus will be on jointly highlighting the need for effective collaboration, highlighting possible obstacles and conditions, and finding concrete solutions to enable an interconnected twin transition of green and digital transformation. What role do the different actors in the triple helix play, how important is research and innovation in accelerating the process, and how can German-Swedish collaborations and companies like BASF support an accelerated and resilient transition?
